NOVEMBER

CAMBRIDGE
Sunday, 5 November – Cambridge Wheel – start 10am from Newmarket Road Park and Ride, Cambridge.  Our circuit of the necklace villages, often clockwise, sometimes anti-clockwise.

CHESHIRE
Saturday, 18 November – Night Ride – Meet at Middlewood Way Car Park, Shrigley Road South.  Map ref 109-943826 – SK12 1TF.  A night ride for any machine and lighting, to the Vale Inn, Adlington Road, Bollington.  Start 19.00 for 19.30.

EAST MIDLANDS
Sunday, 5 November – Lanes of Belvoir Ride – Meet Belvoir Castle car park, NG32 1PE, 10am for 10.30am start.  Gentle saunter round the quiet Vale of Belvoir lanes, 25-ish miles, very flat (except for the climb back to the car part!).  Suitable for all machines.  Café stop for lunch.

ESSEX
Sunday, 26 November – Robert’s Old Bikes Ride – meet at 10.30 for 11 am start from Snug Café, The Street, High Easter CM1 4QR.  If coming by car, parking is available on the opposite side of the road in the village hall car park.  A short ride, well suited for old roadsters and pre-war machines, to the 14th century Black Lion Inn, High Roding where a hearty pub lunch and warming log fire await.

FLAT SECTION (Norfolk/Suffolk)
Saturday, 25 November – Lamplit Ride – A third repeat of this fixture, for pre-1930s machines (repros welcome) under gas, candle or oil lighting only.  An 8 mile dusk ride to the very atmospheric Sweffling White Horse pub and back under a 6 day old full moon.  Note:  this is now on a Saturday evening, not Sunday as before.  Book food direct with the pub: 01728 664178.  Turn up at Marlinspike Hall (IP19 9AR) at 17:00 for tea and cake.  Camping by prior arrangement.  There will be an impromptu cogweb shaking ride early the next morning as well for any who stop over.
Monday, 27 November – Mick’s Outer Space Ride – In 2001 a hydrogen atmosphere was discovered on planet Osiris, the first detection on an extrasolar planet.  Mick will attend with his samples of the gas in a saddle bag.  Meet at, or ride to The Cretingham Bell, IP13 7BJ.  If you wish to book a meal, call them on 01728 685419 or just turn up at 19:00.

KENT & SUSSEX
Sunday, 26 November – Pilgrims Ride – 10 am for 10.30 start from Northgate (near the Cathedral), Rochester, ME1 1LS.  Recommended free parking:  Canal Road, Strood, ME2 4DR.  Alternative parking £3.50 all day is Strood station accessed from Canal Road.  A ride through the Medway Valley, including sections of the Pilgrims Way on both the east and west banks.  25 miles including several climbs, a good gravel track and a short section of good byway.  Recommend a suitably geared machine.  All machines welcome, from roadster to MTB and everything in between.  A light lunch at the tearoom of Aylesford Priory.

NORTH LONDON
Saturday, 11 November – The Grand Tewin Cycle Jumble – best in the south.  Tewin village hall, AL6 0JX.  Near Welwyn Garden City and A1(M) J6.  Tables: Inside £10, outside £7.  Buyers pre 0930 £3, after £1.  Contact V-CC for details.
Sunday, 12 November – War Memorials Ride – we won’t be anywhere at 11am.  A short local ride the day after the Tewin Jumble linking up five or six war memorials.
Wednesday, 15 November – Mid-week Skive – Meet 10.30 for 11 am start at the Rose Café, Railway Street, Hertford.  Join your fellow members for a mid-week ride, a pub lunch and a chat.  Distance varies with the time of year but seldom exceeds a 25 mile round trip.  When possible we run two groups to cater for different ability levels and we aim to be back in Hertford by 4 pm.

CAMBRIDGE
Sunday, 3 December – One Last 2023 Ride – start 10.30 from Trumpington Park and Ride, Cambridge.  A shorter ride for a short winter day.

CHESHIRE
Sunday, 10 December – Peckforton Push-Over – meet at The Ice Cream Farm, Newton Lane, Tattenhall, CH3 9NE – map ref 499 598.  Country lanes with short sections of bridleway.  18 miles with a 33 mile option that includes a steep climb (pushing).  Lunch at The Shady Oak, Bates Mill Lane, Beeston, CW6 9UE  Start 10am for 10.30.

EAST MIDLANDS
Sunday, 17 December – Mince Pie Ride – meet Red Lion pub, 24 High Street, Kegworth, Notts DE74 2DA.  9.30 for 10am start.  Annual brass monkeys ride to the cyclists’ gathering at Belton village hall for tea, mince pies and the new-fangled tombola.  Expect to see friends old and new.  14-ish undulating miles suitable for all machines.

GLAVON-WITS
Sunday, 3 December – Display at Chipping Sodbury Victorian Christmas Fair – static display of Victorian (pre-1901) machines only.

FLAT SECTION
Tuesday, 26 December – Mick’s Boxing Day Pie Eye Ride – full details to be announced, but we meet at Mick Madgett’s shop (Diss IP22 4EH) at 11am for a Wallace’s celebrated mince pie and multiple purchase s of cycle parts and clothing, before an hour’s spring to a suitable inn for lunch.  The best family get-away after Christmas.  No need to pre-book, just turn up.

HEREFORD
Sunday, 10 December – Christmas lunch and ride – 10 mile ride followed by pre-Christmas lunch and charity auction,.  Details to be confirmed.

NORTH ROAD
Sunday, 10 December – Roadster Ride – ride your big old black (or green) roadsters on a 30 miles ride around the quiet lanes of North Herts, with a pub lunch stop. All machines are welcome.  Meet at Fairlands Valley, Stevenage, SG2 0BL at 9.30 for a 10 am start.

NORTHUMBRIAN
Sunday, 10 December – Christmas Dinner Ride – Best Christmas jumper and hat.  10am for 10.30 start at Woodhorn Grange.  Christmas ride and meal, meet for an earlier start than usual for this event.  Pit villages and the sea.  Please bring along prizes for the raffle – Last bookings 30 November.
