VETERAN-CYCLE PUBLICATIONS
The club publishes its own books about historic components, manufacturers, riders, events, marques and clubs.
Following the untimely death of John Pinkerton in 2002, a proposal was made to set up a publishing fund in his memory. It was agreed by the V-CC Committee that the John Pinkerton Memorial Publishing Fund should be set up, to be managed by a committee of up to eight persons who should meet from time to time to conduct the affairs of the Fund. The first meeting took place in November 2003.
The objective of the Fund is to continue the publishing activities initiated by John Pinkerton that is to publish historical material on the development of the bicycle of all types, and related activities. This will include reprints of significant cycling journal articles, manufacturers’ technical information including catalogues, parts lists, drawings and other technical information.
The Fund’s money resources may be obtained by inviting donations, by fund raising events, by surpluses obtained from sales of publications and by other means deemed to be appropriate by the Fund Committee.
From 2018 the Fund was re-named “Pinkerton Press” and from March 2023 is now “Veteran-Cycle Publications”.
