Summer Camp 2026 – Bodiam, East Sussex

For 2026 summer camp we are again going for the simple format, this year at Bodiam in East Sussex close to the wonderful moated castle built by a mercenary soldier using wealth acquired during the 14^th century wars with France.  He later became a Warden of London and a servant of Richard II.

The Club has negotiated the sole use of one of site’s fields, there are no electric hook-ups (EHU) in this area but we are allowed to use generators.  Alternatively, you can book an EHU pitch on the main site at https://parkfarmcamping.co.uk/.  There will be toilets in the field but no showers, these can be found on the main site together with other facilities including a café, bar and small shop.

If you would like to attend this event but do not have your own equipment you can hire a large “Premier Tent” complete with blow up mattresses, tent carpet, remote controlled lighting, a fridge freezer and cupboard storage space, electric sockets, a kettle, picnic table, and fire pit.  Again, these are only bookable via the owner.  If that doesn’t suit then there are The George Inn at Robertsbridge (01580 880315) , Elms Farm B&B, Bodiam (01580 830494), and others in the area.

Although there is a small shop on site there are Morrisons Daily supermarkets at Robertsbridge and Sandhurst a few miles away.

The price this year is on a per person per night basis for camping in the rally field with a charge of £5 for every adult attending, whether on or off-site, to cover administrative expenses.  The cost, if camping on a rally pitch, is:

Adult and family members:  £14 per night
Family members 17 and under:  Free (no admin fee)
Price per adult for the full 7 days:  £95

This will mean that, for a single adult staying for 7 nights, the cost will be £95 + £5 making a total of £100.   For a couple, with a family member 17 or under, the cost of the whole week will be £190 + £10 totalling £200.

If you wish to introduce a friend or friends the V-CC each person will be charged an extra £2 to cover temporary membership and anyone who is 17 and under will pay the full adult price.

We are hoping to visit Brede Steam Giants on Saturday, 8th August (it is the only day it is open).  The entry fee will be £5 per person but we will need a minimum of 30 people to pre-book so if you wish to go please tick ‘Yes’ to let us know that you are interested.

Online booking via the Club’s website, www.v-cc.org.uk, is preferred but if you wish to book by post please send a request, including a stamped, addressed envelope to: Penny Cossburn (address in the Yearbook).

Bookings and payments must be received by 30 June 2026
