Club Library
Our Online Library was launched in October 2008 and then primarily offered scanned catalogues. It has expanded significantly since then to include books, magazines, patents, images, a marque enthusiasts’ section, back issues of News & Views and The Boneshaker, Committee minutes and much more. Over 25,000 items and growing.
The Online Library is run in collaboration with The National Cycle Archive (N.C.A.) and our Dutch sister club, De Oude Fiets, which has permitted member access to their own online library. The N.C.A. is a designated fund within the Cycling History and Educational Trust (CHET).
You must be a Veteran-Cycle Club member for access to our Online Library and registration is required. A User Guide is available to assist with registration, search and use.
There are buttons below for access to a list of monthly “New Additions” and the “Library List” which you can download. The latter is a catalogue of the Online Library and is text-searchable. However we do not recommend that you print it as the file is very large.
There are additional buttons for “N.C.A. and Public Library” and “Public Cycle Inventories”. The former contains material from the N.C.A. and other sources that has been made available to the public so is accessible without requiring member registration. The Club will share digital material with the N.C.A. in the interests of cycle history research. The public area of our online library will be expanded to showcase more N.C.A. digital material. The “Public Cycle Inventories” is a list of known cycles at various museums.
The Club welcomes donations of scanned material to the Online Library.
In 2026 CHET purchased the Club’s physical library and its long-term future has been secured through a Collaboration Agreement. The library will be catalogued as the ‘V-CC Archive Collection’ (or similar) in recognition of the achievement of the Club in assembling it over many years. Where appropriate, individual items in the V-CC Archive Collection will be identified with a suitable book plate, stamp or pencil mark. The V-CC Archive Collection will, once it is catalogued by the archivists, be available to be accessed by future researchers.

The Veteran-Cycle Club offers a Research Service to anyone who is not a member of the Club for a fee of £20.
