The Veteran-Cycle Club annual Memorial Ride took place on the gloriously dry sunny day following the Club’s AGM on 5th April 2025. 19 riders plus 7 non-riders gathered at the Lord Morton Tea Rooms in Cutnal Green, Worcester with machines of very varied ages from an 1886 ‘Kangaroo’ to 2019 e-bikes. The route passed through beautiful Worcestershire country lanes with a short section of bridleway and a recently resurfaced path. A coffee stop at The Mitre Oak allowed time to discuss the wide range of cycles being ridden and many other topics relevant and irrelevant to the day!
The ride then continued on to lunch at Hartlebury Castle, where family members and friends laid flower on the memorial plaque for John and David Pinkerton.
A short loop back to Cutnal Green brought an end to a fabulous day with everyone looking forward to next year’s ride. However, following the success of this ride members of the Midland Section have decided it is time to try to revive group rides in the area and the first of these will take place on 5th July 2025.
