Description
The Registration scheme was introduced by the Veteran-Cycle Club to authenticate machines for the Royal Automobile Club London to Brighton Veteran Car Run to ensure that machines met the official entry criteria, i.e. made before 1905. To this end the Club established an Authenticating Committee in order to organise an authentication process for anyone seeking to enter a machine for the London to Brighton Run from 2026 onwards and to simplify the application process for prospective entrants who need now only show a valid V-CC Authentication Certificate as proof of a machine’s eligibility.
The Veteran-Cycle Club offers the Pre-1905 Registration Service to anyone who is not a member of the Club for a fee of £20.
Some machines have already been authenticated as pre-1905 under the V-CC’s Registration Scheme which ran until 2022 and for the Club’s own machines which are loaned to its members. This also applies to machines accepted as eligible for the London to Brighton Run for the years from 2017-2025. Any machine authenticated before 25th March 2026 is classed as a Legacy Machine. In these cases they remain eligible for the Run and are automatically registered. However, if you are the owner of a registered Legacy Machine and wish to enter the event in future you will need to apply to the V-CC to receive a valid Certificate. The issue of a valid Certificate for a Legacy machine is completely free so you will not need to purchase this product if you are in that situation.
The administration charge to register a machine owned by a member of the Veteran-Cycle Club is covered by the membership fee so members should not order this product but contact the Authenticating Committee in accordance with their Yearbook Guidance notes.
This Pre-1905 Registration Service applies only to cycles.
This is a new service introduced for 2026. To order this service, please fill out the relevant information then add the item to your basket, and follow the Checkout process where you will enter your personal details and select your payment method.
On purchase of this service you will be contacted for more information about your machine.
