Summer Camp 2025 in Kington

by | May 22, 2025

Kington is a sleepy Herefordshire town a stone’s throw from the Welsh county of Radnorshire and our base at Fleece Meadow campsite is nicely positioned for varied rides in this unspoilt area.

Here’s a taster of what’s on offer for the week.  Penny’s treasure hunt for the observant.  A meal and match lit ride from the Olde Tavern Black and white villages abound and the first ride is to pretty Eardisland and Pembridge with pubs and cafes in both villages.

There’s a challenging ride for Monday heading over the hills to the Spaceguard Centre and Knighton, but for those with a preference for an easier day then going over Hergest Ridge and visiting Hergest Croft is well worthwhile

For those OK with tracks (surface better than some of the roads!) there’s a ride into the wilds of Radnorshire with amazing views to go and see the waterfall of Water-break-its-neck. It needs a drop of rain to look as good as this though.

Another ride sampling the black and white (Or magpie as they are known) villages takes us to Weobley where again cafés and pubs can sustain us.

On Wednesday evening we have our match lit ride from the Olde Tavern where food is available if pre ordered.cycle.

The cycle museum at Llandrindod Wells is opening especially for us on the Thursday and for those not wishing to drive there is a good bus service from Kington.

Another ride offered on Thursday is a car assisted ride from Shobdon Airfield (Where they do excellent breakfasts!) to Leintwardine. The Sun Inn is a renowned ‘Parlour’ pub.

Camp is open to members and their friends – you can find out more about the Veteran-Cycle Club at https://v-cc.org.uk.
